AfDB approves donation for child nutrition and food security programs in Angola

Bie is the province with the highest prevalence of chronic malnutrition in Angola. The place has 51% of malnourished people. The number is far above the national average of 38%. To change the reality of the province, the Angolan government will count on aid from the African Development Bank, which approved a donation of US$ 1 million in September.

The money will be used to drive a child food and nutrition security program in the region. The bank’s intervention will complement a therapeutic and supplemental feeding program for vulnerable families with children aged 6 months to 4 years in the drought-stricken municipalities of Cuito and Nharea, both located in the province of Bié.
