Cape Town is preparing to host in 2019 the twentieth edition of one of the most important events on the cultural calendar of the city: the International Jazz Festival that will take place from March 29th to the 30th and will reunite famous international artists, among them are the awarded Brazilian pianist, Eliane Elias and American Chaka Khan, who is considered as the queen of funk and who is a ten-time winner of the Grammy award.
The organizers have promised to reunite artists from the most varied musical styles. “Jazz continues being our main focus, but we cannot ignore the broad spectrum of musical variety deserving to be presented at the festival”, says Billy Domingo, the festival director.
As this is enormously important to the international musical calendar, the event was nicknamed the “African Meeting”, as it will be able to join the most prominent names in contemporary African music. 3000 people are estimated to attend this year.
Tickets to the festival cost R850 (about $63 USD) per day and R1,290 (around $97 USD) for the weekend.
