The Brazil Africa Forum, an annual event organized by the Brazil Africa Institute (IBRAF), brings together hundreds of people interested in strengthening the Brazil-Africa relations. Among the issues to be discussed in the 2019 edition are strategic data analysis, something extremely valuable to plan any business. On occasion, the subject will be discussed by Stephen Yeboah, an expert on data on African markets.
Stephen Yeboah is the co-founder of Commodity Monitor, a tech-based business that uses data analytics to generate an exchange of information on sustainable production, supply and consumption of commodities in Africa, including mining, oil, and gas. Commodity Monitor undertakes political and economic risks and opportunities analyses for private investors and governments.
Stephen has twice in a row been selected as LinkedIn Top Voice on ‘Economy and Finance’ and Philanthropy and Global Development for 2017 and 2018 respectively. He has more than 570,000 followers.
He has more than eight years of experience in research and policy analysis in Africa’s extractive sector, agriculture, energy, climate and was a Research Fellow at the Africa Progress Panel (APP), a non-profit chaired by the late former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, from September 2013 to July 2016. As part of the work for the APP, he engaged in policy research, communications and stakeholder liaison at the highest level towards driving Africa’s agenda in agriculture, energy, climate, natural resources, and sustainable development in the global context.
He has published more than 100 articles, blogs and papers on energy and climate, finance, agriculture, natural resources governance and sustainable development in Africa and holds a Master in Development Studies from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID), Geneva, Switzerland. He had his undergraduate education at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
He is currently undertaking a doctoral study at the Swiss Graduate School of Public Administration (IDHEAP), University of Lausanne, Switzerland, researching on the politics, institutions of mining and the outcomes on Ghana’s development.
The 2019 Brazil Africa Forum
With the main theme “Food security: path to economic growth”, BAF arrives in its 7th edition as one of the main events for the strengthening of relations between Brazil and the African continent.
On November 12th and 13th at the Sheraton WTC in São Paulo, Brazil, about 300 representatives from governments, the private sector, academia, and potential investors will exchange experiences, discuss value opportunities and promote knowledge.
Among the names already confirmed as speakers are the President of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), Benedict Oramah; the director of the World Food Program’s Centre for Excellence Against Hunger, Daniel Balaban; and the director of global practices and agriculture at the World Bank, Simeon Ehui.
